Misty rain today and a bit of urban walking, so an okay day but nothing fantastic.
Coimbra is a large city (~150,000), so it’s a bit of a shock after all the tiny villages I’ve been in.
I have a rest day here tomorrow, so I hope to do some exploring.

“Dr.” Abbey
When we had kids, I thought one benefit would be they would do chores and save me some work. I got that wrong. But now that Abbey is a Physician Assistant, she is my personal medical professional. I plan on milking this as much as I can.
I’ve got some gastro issues, so she got the call at 7:00AM ET this morning. (I forgot it was Labor Day.) I’m sure she loves these calls when she gets to talk to her father about poop, gas and other bodily functions. Ah, payback.
Bottom line, I’m glad I have a rest day and that I’m in a big city where there are pharmacies (and doctors if needed). Hopefully, I’ll be feeling 100% by end of tomorrow. I’ll give you an update then.
A little help for a friend…
About an hour before the end today’s walk, I ran into Christine from Berlin again. We walked the rest of the way together. Later, we ran into another pilgrim who was on the first day of his Camino, but was going the wrong way. We turned him around and walked him to town. He’s back on the road to Santiago, just a little later than he thought.
With my rest day tomorrow, I’m unlikely to see them again, but that’s the way of the Camino. It was nice to interact at least briefly.

I think one of my favorite things about traveling is meeting others, even if it’s just for a brief time, and sharing in the joy of whatever connection brought us together (omg, you’re from <insert wherever>, how cool!). I’m glad to hear you got your fellow pilgrim back on the right track AND that you are grossing your daughter out early on her rest day!
Looking forward to hearing how your exploring of the town went on your rest day and that hopefully you are feeling better!!
Cheers to good weather and better guts!
