There are a few iconic albergues (lodgings) on the Camino. Tonight we are staying at one of them… Casa Fernanda.
For many years, Fernanda and her husband Jucinta have hosted pilgrims in their modest establishment. Their hospitality is legendary and is well known by pilgrims and often highlighted in guidebooks. While I don’t love dorm style sleeping, staying at Casa Fernanda was a must for us.
It has the feeling of summer camp. We are in a wood cabin that holds 10 people. It’s divided by a wall creating a room for 4 and 6. All 6 of us are together on one side. There are Canadians and Australians staying on the other side and in an add-on room.
There is a covered outdoor dining area and sitting area. Fernanda and Jacinta cook everyone dinner and breakfast. It’s very rustic but very welcoming.
Now that I’ve been here I understand why people love this place. You feel welcome and it’s so easy to meet and talk with others. It’s a family experience.

Today’s Walk
We all had a great time walking today. We each walked at your own pace but walked together too. Lots of good conversations The weather continues to be sunny and about 80.

Bill, please add more captions to some of the photos. For instance, what’s the wacky statue they are posing with? And what is delicious looking food on that platter in the middle of the room on the small table? I’m glad it’s dinner time here!
That would take time and energy on my part.
Oh, right. We wouldn’t want that.
Way to set those expectations.
