Day 9 – Aosta (Rest Day)

So far, we’ve:

  • Walked over 95 miles
  • Taken 264,877 steps
  • Ascended 16,621 feet (Mt Everest is 29,032 feet tall)
  • Descended 13,279 feet

So, I think we deserve a rest day.

We each relaxed. We also did our laundry and explored the city.

Chris and Shannon (Calgary) joined us for dinner at a fun local place far away from the tourist hot spots. Great food, great atmosphere and a great time.

Aosta is a lovely town. It was founded in 25 BC to help Rome control the nearby mountain passes. Its name is derived from the emperor at the time, “Augustus.”

Aosta’s city walls date back to 25 BC. Much of the wall is still standing, so you bump into it often as you walk around town.
