I’m back in vineyards. This time in Brunello wine country.
Brunello is made with 100% Sangiovese grapes and it is considered one of the world’s great wines.
I walked by many vineyards offering tastings, but I showed restraint. Well, until the evening, when I helped a table of pilgrims finish a bottle.

It’s the worst thing about Europe. Lots of smokers. Only outside, fortunately. Usually you can choose a seat away from the smokers, but occasionally you’ll be enjoying sitting at a table in the piazza and someone lights up.

I note the ashtrays on the cafe tables in San Quirico d’Orcia. Are there a lot of smokers in restaurants and other public places? Is it only outdoors?
