Decision to make.
Either, take the 14 mile flat route, but have to walk several miles along a busy highway…
Or, take the 20 mile hilly route and be safely away from cars.
My sore feet made the decision. Damn the danger. Short route on the road it is.
The video below gives you an idea of what the road was like. Spoiler alert, I survived.
Today, I left Tuscany and entered Lazio. Tuscany was amazing. Some of the best hiking that I’ve ever done. So many beautiful towns.
Unfortunately, the first day in Lazio was not great, but hopefully it will get better.

Wishing you safer, more scenic, and relaxing roads on your next leg.
Are you staying at albergues/hostels that are pilgrim driven? Or is it a mix of albergues and small hotels/Inns?
Also, are you using a specific app to “follow” the Via Francigena?
Lastly, I don’t suppose you are encountering many pilgrims, especially due to the season (being autumn).
I generally stay in hotels. There are albergues, though.
I usually see about 10 pilgrims a day. Since I’ve jumped around a bit, I have seen different people mostly.
There is an app, but I downloaded map tracks and use maps.me. I’m just used to it.
it’s about time we heard from your feet. In several earlier caminos they featured more prominently…. And shoes!… what’s the report from your feet overall?
How many more days? How are you feeling about that?
Glad your safe and didn’t get hit by any thing.
