Day 3 – Saint Jean Pied du Port

Despite a weather forecast of dry skies, we had some drizzles today for about 30 minutes. Walking in the light rain was actually quite enjoyable. Good thing, since we had shipped our rain gear ahead with our luggage.

I remembered from last year that this stage didn’t have much interesting scenery, but my memory was way off. We had great views most of the day. I took a million photos.

BTW… my back is much improved. I will carry my backpack again tomorrow. Also, the heatwave has broken. High in the 70s tomorrow.

Walking in the early morning light.
A fun little bridge to keep our shoes dry.
A fat goat.
SJPDP is beautiful. I feel blessed to visit this place again. Carol and Ann also love it.
SJPDP’s Pont d’Eyheraberry over the Nive River.
SJPDP from the citadel above town.
At about 3:00pm, everyone’s phones in the whole city started alerting loudly. Skies were (and are) perfectly clear. No wind. No sign of rain clouds. There is a chance of storms later tonight but using the warning system for that seems like major overkill. (Original alert was in French, but then a second one in English was posted.)
Revenge of the cow gods.
The musical stylings of Miss Ann Farless.

  1. RE: Your cow video. Just think of them as faculty. Not obstacles, but partners you have to work with towards a win-win for both groups.

  2. Forget retirement sisters! I see cow self esteem coach and lamb lullabyist in your futures!! Seriously gorgeous pix and great videos. Glad your back is better Bill – I say forget the backpack. Ann and Carol are happy to have others schlepp their stuff – its only fair you do too!
