Day 12 – Zumbujal

If I was worried about any day on this Camino, today was the one. My hotel is out in the boonies. There are no restaurants or stores nearby, and most places are closed on the way because it’s Sunday. So basically, I’ll have nothing to eat, and I’ll be sitting in a room with nothing to do.

And again, like so many other times on the Camino, I was stupid to worry. Things were fine. In fact, this may have been the best day so far.

The walk was another pretty one.

Plenty of places were open along the way. I even had a great lunch at about the halfway point. There was a nice grocery store where I bought supplies.

I met several pilgrims, and even walked with a woman from Berlin for about an hour, and our conversation made the time fly.

My lodging is fantastic. Best so far.

And, to cap it off… there was a once-a-year festival in this small town.

I promise to learn. Don’t worry. Be happy.

Who am I kidding. I won’t learn.

The Festival

Casa Das Raposaas

My lodging is a small place in a town of just a few hundred people, but it’s gorgeous. I basically have a small apartment with a little kitchen in an old brick building. And after sleeping on a bunch of hard mattresses this one feels great.

For those disturbed cow lovers that follow the blog.
Test your maturity. See if you can keep yourself from making a joke like a 5th grader.

  1. Great timing for you to find a festival! Upload the video of you dancing please. Love the map. The lack of travelers from Russia is certainly telling of the world situation. I’ve been meaning to ask you about your walking companions. I know your fast pace from our travels. It reminds me of getting passed by a car on the highway. It almost never happens. Is that your experience on the Camino? Do EVER get passed by anyone? And let us know about your cork knowledge sometime 😉

    1. I got passed by some bikes today. 😉 Christine from Berlin was faster than me so I had to pick up the pace to walk with her. Mostly I’m a little faster than most folks. All I know about Cork, is that I like to remove them as fast as possible to get the wine out.
