It was a beautiful route today. We started by walking along the lake, then we moved up into the vineyards. There were cute villages sprinkled in along the whole walk. At the end, the route went right past Nestle’s headquarters. No chocolate out front, unfortunately.
We thought it would be a flat route but we ended up with over 1000 feet of vertical climbing. We’re both very tired. Thankfully, drinks and dinner revitalized us. We’re ready for Day 2.
Q: What do you think of Switzerland?
Of course, it’s beautiful, but Scott captured it best when he said “It’s so orderly.”
The trains are on schedule to the minute. We see no litter. Even the construction sites seem contained and organized.
Scott, is an engineer, and it’s the perfect society to him. If you’re a little more Bohemian than Scott, it might not charm you as much, but you can’t argue with the fact that it’s beautiful and people seem genuinely happy here.

I love to see you living your best life!

Bill, your video kind of answers this question, but are there designated walking paths from town to town? The only road work I saw you doing was inside of the villages.
Yes, definitely.
Yes, definitely.!
Yes, definitely!!!!
My lesson of the day. Don’t click twice.
Do you understand technology?
Apparently not.
Beautiful! Great to see you back on the trail, Bill! You’re right about Switzerlnd – orderly, clean, no chaos!
The video is a great way to bring us along with you. Nice variety of paths and views.
Thank you so much for sharing your walk! It is so beautiful, and I hope to do this in the coming years. Is it mostly pavement? In France and Spain, it was SO much easier to walk when we weren’t on pavement all day!
First few days were mostly pavement. As we’ve gotten further into the mountains though, it’s about 50/50.
It’s a fun route. You’ll enjoy it. Not as many pilgrims though, so harder to make friends.
