Day 10 – Châtillon

Sorry to be so repetitive, but… another beautiful day.

We took a cab to shorten our hike from 18 to 12 miles. That ended up being perfect. Nearly our whole walk featured great valley views, and the trails were really nice.

Q: How is the food?

Funny, after visiting Switzerland for a week, I couldn’t exactly tell you what Swiss food is. I mean, there were lots of Italian, French and even some German restaurants, but nothing that stood out as uniquely Swiss. That said, we have had a lot of great food, so no complaints.

Now that we’re in Italy, it’s what you would expect. Lots of pasta and pizza options. We had a wonderful dinner last night at an off-the-beaten-path place recommended by our taxi driver. That was fantastic. It felt like the four of us (we were with friends) were the only non-locals in the place.

I love Italian food, but it will be interesting to see if I’m tired of it after a month in Italy. I’ll keep you posted.

Looking back toward Aosta and the high Alps. Since we were walking on a mountain trail all day, we had views like this almost the whole way.
More great views looking away from Aosta toward our destination
We took a rest here. Not a bad view. The town of Nus in the distance.
The trail had a lots of ups and downs. Here’s a “down” when the trail went right through a vineyard.
We’ve walked through vineyards every day, but today was the first time we saw people actually harvesting the grapes
