Day 22 – Vernazza

Busy trails today with many hikers enjoying the Cinque Terre trails.

These towns are all beautiful, but during the day they are busy with day trippers from Florence or from cruise ships docked in Le Spezia. In the evenings and the early mornings though, they are peaceful and pleasant. I really love staying here.

Vernazza has a lovely protected bay with a stone beach, so Abbey and I took a dip in the Mediterranean after our walk. That was a real treat.

Our group had a great dinner in an old fort by the water front. And, of course, some gelato to finish the night.

Not sure what happened at 2:28 mark but I’m quite sure we didn’t go down into a cave below sea level.

  1. Beautiful coastal views. Glad you are enjoying the local cuisine. What a relief to see other faces besides Bill’s. Really adds to the blog.

  2. I love that hike!  Did it 20 years ago before the flood of mud. Such a
special area. I am so sorry cruise ships exist!

    I can smell the lemons….

    Hike on
