Never trust a guidebook.
We thought we had a challenging 17 miles to cover today. When we finished, we had walked 21.65 miles!!! Over 45,000 steps. That’s my second longest day ever on a Camino.
Ali is 5 months pregnant (yay, I’m going to be a grandpa!). So she and Billy decided today would be a good rest day. They had a lovely morning in San Gimignano and an even better afternoon in Monteriggioni. Two beautiful towns to explore. They made a great decision.
The rest of us plowed through. I’m really proud of the team. Today was really challenging but everyone persevered. Attitudes were great even though everyone had sore feet. We walked for nearly 8 hours. What a great accomplishment.
After about 8 miles, we stopped for a great lunch in a town that had a food festival going on. That proved a wise decision since unbeknownst to us, we still had 13 miles to walk.
We had a nice dinner together and then all headed to bed early. We are all tired but satisfied. Tomorrow is our last day of walking together. The week has flown by. I am truly happy.

Your blue river looked like the Blue Lagoon in Iceland, minus the geothermal heat and the bar in the middle:-)
Dramatic river crossings! That color is wild. Long day but congrats on storming the walled city.
congrats on the long hike, wow. Beautiful pictures. I have a drawing of San Gimignano in my kitchen. One of our favorite places. Cheers
Dang! That was quite a day!
